Graphics & Sound Effects/Music- GRAPHICS-
The Graphics of this game don't show the playstaions limits but are certainly adequate for playing standards. While fighting another opponet the game's graphical limitations soon become apparent. From afar it looks fine and is possible to figure out which charcters are which. When up close you can see the blocky graphics at work, especially during final attacks. But when all looks terrible in the graphics department they add the character's faces in the corners of the screen, plus with the added feature of facial expressions. I really like the backrounds they all look like actual places from the show.
SOUND EFFECTS-
Just when things look their worse for this game, the game makes an awesome comeback with it's T.V./Movie realistic grahpics. Every single attack and power-up a character makes can be heard. The punching the high-speed attacks all mimic and SOUND strait from the show. This may not be a reason to buy the ghame but it sure does help.
MUSIC- Theres not much to say about the music but in every level it sounds the same to me. The music it self does sound like the music played on the show, but I don't really like it myself.

The Graphics aren't that bad you can recongnize the characters, plus the chosen characters faces are in the corners of the screen.

Originality,Play Control, & Enjoyment : ORIGINALITY- I have to say I just love the originality of this game, it's so different than your typical Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter type games. For one in this game you have your story, VS, and SP modes. Each is very unique, first off the story mode plays through all the MAJOR DBZ battles. The story mode is unfortunetly a one player but you have computer members on your team. The VS mode is typically played the same as any story mode but with the added feature of team battles (you can have up to 3 characters on your team against your opponet (friend or cpu) this can be played one or two players. SP mode is something entirely different to the other two modes. It's some what comparable to an arcade mode but what I really think it is; is a how bunch of battles that are suppose to be what if those 2 or 3 joined together battles. SP is played with one player but can be really fun.
PLAY CONTROLS- The controls for this game are a tad-bit difficult to master, so I would give them a learning curve form anywhere to an half hour to an hour. The 0 serves as the action button it's your basic punching and kicking. Up and Down serves as your basic forward and backward, up being forward and down being backwards. Your common forward and backward controls are used to do combos a very elaboriate attacks on your opponet. Remember this is a Japenese game so conrtols would naturally be different.
ENJOYMENT- This game is both enjoyable in a group and individualy. The game mode really makes the difference. You wouldn't just wanna watch your friend play the game would you,so the Story mode and SP mode are more for one person, while VS can be enjoyed among you and your friends. I would really recommend you play this game by yourself.

Overall-I would say that this game is the best dbz to date but it depends on what you like. If you are interested in the arcade style of fighting than you should try DBZ: Ultimate Battle 22 or DBGT: Final Bout. I would not reccommend this game for non DBZ fans, but needles to say it's still an awesome game. Don't let the bad graphics scare you away from this game, everything else makes up for it. I bought this game and I think it's a game every DBZ fanatic should own. |
